But what comes to mind when you think of health? Physical, mental, financial, social, or spiritual? There’s no reason to choose!
You know Chicago Black Gay Men’s Caucus. From our men’s retreats, to our public forums, to Love Fest, we’ve built space to be a community. At the same time, we’ve made sure Black gay, bisexual, and same gender loving men are heard by the public health industry.
As we head into 2017, we have deep challenges ahead. Let’s meet them together. Your donation keeps our work by us, for us.
Our staff, board of directors, and community advisors have been working hard behind the scenes to incorporate the feedback you’ve given us over the years. Our staple programs are coming back next year with upgrades.
Our mens’ retreat will emphasize leadership skills, advocacy days will happen all year, and we’ll be adding monthly meetings to our quarterly forums.
To achieve this we raise the voices of men in our community and their allies. We also bridge the gaps between traditional (e.g. healthcare, governmental) and non-traditional (e.g. club, faith, business) providers that serve our community.
In 2005, we were established by the collective efforts of Black gay community organizers and officials within the Chicago Department of Public Health to address the overrepresentation of Black gay, bisexual, and same gender loving men in the HIV epidemic.
We knew that preventing new HIV infections and ensuring healthcare engagement for those living with HIV could only succeed through community-informed models of work.
Our program portfolio has included homegrown community level interventions, such as our annual health festival Love Fest, and several adaptations of CDC-sanctioned interventions such as Many Men, Many Voices (3MV).
There are many other ways to support our work, such as attending one of our fundraisers, volunteering and providing in-kind services or products.
The Caucus is committed to helping every man in our community realize his full potential. With your support we can keep up the momentum and build on our recent successes!
Thank you for your support,
